Are Robert Pattinson and Lily Collins dating? That’s the rumor being spread by one of the tabloids this week. And while it’s juicy, the claim is 100 percent untrue.
According to NW, Collins and Pattinson may be “a thing.” The magazine asserts they “sparked rumors they might be more than mates as they cozied up together at a benefit for the Go Campaign charity” gala that was held in Los Angeles on October 20. The outlet alleges the two were “whispering in each other’s ears and cracking jokes,” making it appear they may be a new couple.
Quoting Collins expressing she was “incredibly honored” to join Pattinson as an ambassador for the organization that helps kids in need across the globe, the tabloid editorializes how the actress “looks more like ‘hot and bothered’ than ‘honored.'” But that’s not actually what Collins said. In an interview, the movie star shared, “I’m incredibly honored to raise funds and awareness for orphans and children around the world.”
The habitually disproven publication then notes how Collins was in the running more than a decade ago to play Pattinson’s love interest Bella Swan in the Twilight films, but the part eventually went to his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart. Before ending its article, the outlet again editorializes, “Maybe this romance was meant be be all along.” A better “maybe” is how NW would have spared itself the embarrassment of being corrected if maybe it once in a while fact-checked its claims.
It’s true Collins, now a Go Campaign ambassador, posed with Pattinson for several photos at the event (above). It’s also factually correct that many years ago, like many other actresses, Collins auditioned for the Twilight role of Bella Swan, which Stewart won. What’s false is that she and Pattinson are “a thing.” A source close to Collins exclusively confirms to Gossip Cop that she and Pattinson are “just friends.”
It appears NW knows little about Pattinson’s love life. In the past year alone, Gossip Cop has repeatedly busted the magazine for its inaccurate romance reports. In January, for instance, we corrected the outlet when it falsely contended Pattinson was dating Kylie Minogue. Several months later, we shot down an absurd story that wrongly maintained Pattinson and Stewart were “going on secret dates,” even though she had already been involved for some time with Stella Maxwell.
Shockingly, that wasn’t the end of the tabloid’s misfires when it came to the actor’s supposed romances. A little more than two months ago, the very same magazine alleged Pattinson was in a “love triangle” with Sienna Miller and Demi Moore. The reality is he wasn’t seeing either of those two women. Much like its past articles, the latest one claiming he’s dating Collins is also 100 percent untrue.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
