A tabloid claims Robert Pattinson wants to reunite with Kristen Stewart for a new movie in order to boost his career. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.

"Rob & Kristen: Back In Business?" reads a headline in the latest issue of OK! The accompanying article says Pattinson is desperate "to be a Hollywood heartthrob again" and thinks teaming up with his former girlfriend and Twilight co-star will do the trick. After first suggesting the actor is interested in a Twilight reboot, the outlet then switches gears by quoting a "source" as saying, "He could walk into pretty much any rom-com he wants, but he knows it would mean double the money if he could convince Kristen to star with him."

The tabloid further contends that Pattinson's "fame has dwindled" since the Twilight franchise ended in 2012, which is why the actor is supposedly eager to collaborate with Stewart again. The supposed source adds, "They still have a bond that came from starring together in such life-changing roles, so he's hoping that because of that, she'll want to work with him again."

None of this is accurate. For starters, Pattinson has opened up in several different interviews about avoiding blockbusters and franchises after the Twilight series ended. In a 2017 interview with GQ, Pattinson noted that he's drawn towards art-house movies and working with filmmakers he finds interesting. In many of his recent films, including Good Time and Damsel, the actor purposely downplayed his looks.

It should be mentioned, the actor is in fact returning to the world of blockbusters. It was announced last month that Pattinson is joining the cast of Christopher Nolan's next movie, which has been described as a "massive, innovative, action blockbuster." It's worth noting, the actor admitted in a recent interview that he's "been a little wary of doing big movies for years and years," but made an exception for Nolan because "he seems like the only director now who can do what is essentially a very personal, independent movie that has huge scale."

Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actor, who tells us the tabloid's report is fabricated. The actor hasn't been campaigning to reunite with Stewart on screen, nor is he worried about losing his "Hollywood heartthrob" status. Not only has Pattinson actively pursued smaller films following the end of Twilight, but he actually has a big movie lined up and it's one he's passionate about. Anyone who's followed the actor's career would be well aware he doesn't choose projects based on money or fame.

Meanwhile, Gossip Cop already busted OK! back in January 2018 for wrongly reporting that Pattinson and Stewart were in talks for a new movie together. That story clearly never panned out. This latest one is similarly untrue.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
