Robert Pattinson is the cover subject of GQ France’s October issue and inside the actor talks about his “dream” job, offers acting advice and naturally discusses his new movie Good Time. Interestingly, the interview with the article’s writer was not in person and unconventionally conducted over WhatsApp.

French director Romain Gavras, who previously worked with Pattinson on his 2013 Dior Homme fragrance campaign, was the interviewer and asked the actor about Good Time via WhatsApp. Of the film Pattinson said, “It’s really great people like the movie. I thought the public would actually be divided. My character is a rather ambiguous guy.” He continued, “Actually, he’s a real asshole, occasionally a narcissistic psychopath. But the movie presents him as a sort of hero in an action movie. I don’t know if I’m making any sense.”

Pattinson then went on to share some rather amusing acting advice with Gavras. “Play each scene pretending it’s your birthday, but no one knows it,” he joked, adding, “Your mother is dead but today’s your birthday and no one else knows. It’s a balance of yin and yang.” But if Pattinson weren’t an actor, he’d want to be a film editor. Of his interest in editing, he told Gavras, “I really envy you.” Being an editor “would be a dream for me,” said Pattinson.

The two also discussed their interview being conducted over WhatsApp. In addition to neither of them have time to meet in person, the French director explained to Pattinson how he’s a “little frightened” of celebrities who can be “funny and charming all the time on TV,” which is why he preferred using a different technological for their interview. “That’s because they’re only good at this. They’re incapable of love,” joked Pattinson.

As Gossip Cop reported, Pattinson was the cover story subject of U.S. edition of GQ in September. And as we noted, he also graces cover of the October Esquire UK. In the article, which similarly is to promote Good Time, Pattinson expressed that actors who play heroes hide “gross stuff” in real-life.
