Robert Pattinson tells the story behind his first kiss in a new interview for W magazine. The actor is featured on one of 10 covers for the October issue of the fashion publication, which also includes video interviews with the subjects. Watch below!

The upcoming issue of W features interviews with celebrities from the worlds of film, television, fashion and more. In addition to his print interview, Pattinson participated in a candid “Screen Tests” segment, during which he opens up about his adolescence.

When asked to divulge the details of his first kiss, the actor reveals, “It was on the roof of a building around the corner from my house in London. [I was] 11 or 12. That’s quite old, isn’t it?” He continues, “I guess it was a girlfriend. We used to walk home from school together. And I remember being like, ‘What does my mouth taste like?’” He laughs, “That’s really romantic,” before joking, “Does it taste like marmite?” Pattinson further notes, “I think we dated for a bit until it was revealed to me… She was like, ‘Oh, no. I started dating someone else.’ I’m like, ‘Wait, what?!’”

Pattinson also talks about his early career for his W profile. He reveals that he never intended to become an actor, but ended up auditioning for a local production of Guys and Dolls while working backstage a theater company in London. Despite trying out for the lead, Pattinson was given a supporting role in the show, but went on to score a part playing Reese Witherspoon’s son in the 2004 drama Vanity Fair. Unfortunately, his scenes were cut out of the film. “Basically I went to the screening and no one had informed me that I was cut,” he says. It all worked out for the best, however, as Pattinson explains that the casting director “felt so guilty that no one had informed me that she basically gave me a first run at the part in Harry Potter.”

Also during the interview, Pattinson talks about Twilight, Good Time, his upcoming projects, his go-to karaoke song and more. In addition to Pattinson, the other nine cover stars featured in the October issue of W are Tracee Ellis Ross, Chris Hemsworth, Tilda Swinton, Jared Leto, Pharrell Williams, James Corden, Hailee Steinfeld, Winona Ryder, and Saoirse Ronan.
