Robert Downey Jr. teased Iron Man’s role in the new Spider-Man: Homecoming movie in an interview broadcast on Wednesday’s “GMA.” Watch the video below!

As Gossip Cop has reported, Tom Holland stars as the web slinger in the latest reboot of the comic book franchise. Spider-Man gets some tough love from Iron Man, with the plot entangled with that of the ongoing Avengers movies. On “Good Morning America,” Jesse Palmer asked Downey to catch him up to speed, leading the actor to explain, “In [Captain America] Civil War, Tony [Stark] is a little desperate and he starts trying to get some fresh meat recruits. Winds up in Queens and turns out young Peter Parker proves himself a worthy addition to the team, provided you got some training wheels on him.”

Stark isn’t quite ready to let Parker completely leave the superhero nest, so to speak. “It’s about when your 16-year-old says, ‘Well, I have a license now. I can drive,’ and you want to put a tracker in their car and you want to be able to deactivate it,” Downey compared, going on to offer up another apology. “This is like boy meets world [in a Spider-Man suit]. Boy kind of blows it. And then maybe at the end there’s redemption, but he’s gotta earn it.”

As a lifelong Spider-Man fan, Downey told Palmer, “I genuinely had a blast. I just love Spider-Man, so to me, being able to participate in reintroducing Spider-Man to a new generation, that’s why it’s called ‘homecoming.'” As for the actor’s future in the Iron Man suit, he said, “It’s like anything like with a team. If you’re gonna hang up your jersey, you want to make sure the team is in good shape and they can still compete at a high level, because ultimately, that’s what made the whole thing worth doing anyway.”

As Gossip Cop reported, Holland appeared on “GMA” last week to also discuss the film. Check out the new interview with Downey below!
