Rihanna denies a “rivalry” with Beyoncé in her new Vogue cover story, confirming Gossip Cop’s busts of various feud reports about the singers.

Rumors of a competition between the two most recently heated up in February, when Beyoncé did a surprise release of her new song “Formation” just days after Rihanna finally dropped her Anti album. But in Rihanna’s mind, there’s no connection between the two events. “Here’s the deal: They just get so excited to feast on something that’s negative. Something that’s competitive. Something that’s, you know, a rivalry,” she says of being pitted against Beyoncé.

Rihanna continues, “And that’s just not what I wake up to. Because I can only do me. And nobody else is going to be able to do that.”

Last month, Gossip Cop debunked a MediaTakeOut story that falsely claimed Rihanna pulled out of the Grammys not because she was sick, but because she had a “blowup” during rehearsals when she found out Beyoncé would be coming as a surprise presenter. The webloid even claimed a tape of Rihanna saying “I’ll f*ck that b*tch up” was about to leak, but of course no such thing ever did. “The beef is real,” MediaFakeOut declared.

Except it’s not. A friend of both superstars, who was actually at the Grammys, assured Gossip Cop that not only did the “blowup” never happen, but that Beyoncé and Rihanna are friends. “There’s no beef,” we were excusively told. “They like each other.”

And they have respect for each other’s musical contributions, along with an understanding that they are unique performers. No one is looking to copy one another or steal the limelight, just as Rihanna told Vogue. The full issue, which is the April 2016 edition, will hit newsstands on March 29.
