Did Rihanna and her boyfriend Hassan Jameel really get into a huge fight after she started smoking pot during a meal at an upscale restaurant? That's the ridiculous claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this nonsense.
According to In Touch, the singer and Saudi businessman recently dined with a group of friends at a fancy restaurant in California, but their evening "went up in smoke, literally." A supposed source tells the magazine that Rihanna lit up a joint in a private upstairs section of the restaurant, which she's supposedly been known to do.
"Her smoking never seemed to be a problem before, but this time customers were complaining about the smell," says the questionable insider. "The owner was furious and had someone mention it to her group." As the story goes, a mortified Jameel shouted, "Why do always do this! It's embarrassing," and then went on to accuse his girlfriend of drinking too much wine as well. "It was an uncomfortable scene," adds the alleged source.
The seemingly phony tipster continues, "Hassan was so upset that he got up, stormed out the door and got in their car. Rihanna ran after him. But when she got to the car, Hassan had left without her."
So, when did this take place? The tabloid doesn't say. And at what restaurant did this occur? The untrustworthy outlet doesn't mention that either. Also, if "customers were complaining" and it was such "an uncomfortable scene," how come only In Touch heard about this? Why didn't local outlets or more respected magazines report this?
Simply, as Gossip Cop found out, the entire tale was manufactured. A source close to the situation exclusively assures us that no such event ever occurred. The magazine seemingly came up with this tall tale simply because Rihanna happens to be a marijuana enthusiast. However, this nonsense about the singer publicly battling her boyfriend in a restaurant over smoking weed is pure fiction.
In Touch, of course, is the same tabloid that Gossip Cop previously busted for throwing Rihanna into a nonexistent love triangle with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. We've also called out the publication for printing several false stories about the singer feuding with Beyonce. Much like those articles, the latest one that wrongly claims Rihanna and Jameel had a fight over her smoking pot in a restaurant similarly goes up in smoke.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
