Renee Zellweger‘s friends want Tom Cruise to rescue the actress from her lonely life as a recluse? That’s the premise of a new tabloid story. Gossip Cop has learned the truth.
Last week, Gossip Cop debunked a Star cover story claiming Zellweger is struggling in her personal life despite her recent professional success, which includes winning an Academy Award for her role in Judy. According to the magazine, the actress was “self-conscious” and “virtually friendless” throughout awards season, despite ultimately winning the Oscar. An unknown insider told the outlet, “She’s extremely self-conscious and shy. Being around her peers has been tough on her.”
Zellweger’s spokesperson dismissed the story as fiction, telling Gossip Cop that Star “should be ashamed for pushing this false BS in the wake of her well-earned success.” The actress’s rep, who’s qualified to speak on her behalf, further noted she’s “incredibly well and happy,” despite what the tabloid’s “random sources” say. The Washington Post, which is infinitely more reliable than Star, even published an article about Zellweger being happy and vindicated after returning to Hollywood following a six-year hiatus.
Unfortunately, NW is latching on to the false notion that Zellweger is having a major life crisis. For good measure – and seemingly no reason – the outlet decided to drag the actress’s Jerry Maguire co-star into the mix. According to the magazine, Zellweger’s close pals “are hoping Tom Cruise might swoop in to help” her. The magazine’s alleged source, however, believes the actor “may have his work cut out for him,” as his former co-star “can be quick to shut people out.”
The magazine doesn’t bother to mention exactly how Cruise would “swoop in to help” the actress or what that would entail. It seems the only reason his name got mentioned is because Zellweger thanked Cruise during her acceptance speech at the SAG Awards last month. She was simply giving a shoutout to a former colleague who helped launch her career. Zellweger doesn’t need the movie star to intervene in her personal life.
Just a few weeks ago, NW falsely claimed Zellweger got into a fight with Jennifer Aniston for supposedly flirting with Brad Pitt during awards season. That story was completely made up, but it’s also inconsistent with this latest article about her being isolated during awards season. Did she keep to herself or battle and flirt with other A-listers? Pick a fake storyline and stick with it, NW.
We should also mention, Gossip Cop busted Woman’s Day last month for creating a phony love triangle between Zellweger, Cruise and Colin Firth. The tabloids enjoy arbitrarily linking the actress to her former co-stars – whether romantically or otherwise.
