One of the tabloids claims Reese Witherspoon is furious with Nicole Kidman for landing the movie and TV rights to the upcoming book by the author of “Big Little Lies.” Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus story. There’s no drama between the actresses over the situation.

Last month, it was announced that Kidman will produce and star in a project based on Liane Moriarty’s upcoming novel Nine Perfect Strangers. The actress will produce the project alongside Witherspoon’s former producing partner, Bruna Papandrea. According to In Touch, the deal went down “behind Reese’s back” and it’s causing major tension between her and Kidman.

“It’s your typical case of Hollywood backstabbing,” an alleged insider tells the magazine “Nicole and Bruna teamed up to get the film and TV rights… Reese has nothing to do with this project, so she feels totally blindsided.”

The outlet’s questionable source adds, “Reese thinks Nicole overstepped her boundaries, and she’s fuming on set. She can’t believe Nicole would do this to her.” The alleged tipster goes on to say that Kidman “has been unapologetic” about teaming up with Papandrea, adding, “It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.”

Here’s how it’s played out. When the second season of “Big Little Lies” wrapped filming on Friday, Witherspoon tweeted, “Big love to my #BigLittleLies sisters @NicoleKidman @LauraDern @shailenewoodley @ZoeKravitz #MerylStreep thank you for all the love & incredible partnership!” Shortly before thanking her co-stars by name, Witherspoon tweeted, “Feeling so grateful to my #biglittlelies family on our last day of shooting Season 2! You all have inspired me, supported me, made me laugh & cry. You made this second season even more exciting than the last (i can’t wait for y’all to see it!!) Thank you.” It’s clear there’s no behind-the-scenes feud happening.

Additionally, the notion that Witherspoon would be angry about Kidman working with her former producing partner isn’t accurate. When false rumors emerged in 2017 that Witherspoon and Papandrea ended their partnership over a feud, the producer told the Daily Mail, “There’s no bad blood, in fact we have many, many more movies and TV shows to do together.” Meanwhile, Witherspoon called Papandrea “a hard-working, extremely talented producer” and noted she’d be “happy to further collaborate with her.” Papandrea simply started her own production company, but there’s no ill will between her and Witherspoon.

Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who tells us on the condition of anonymity that there was zero conflict on the set of “Big Little Lies.” All of the co-stars get along great, including Witherspoon and Kidman, who frequently socialize off set and give each other shoutouts on social media.
