Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth are not having marriage problems because of her busy schedule and various work commitments, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can correct this inaccurate claim about there being "trouble in paradise." The couple's relationship, we're told, is perfectly fine.
According to Woman's Day, there are "rumors of marriage troubles for the couple." Without stating where these so-called "rumors" are coming from, the tabloid quotes what it terms is an "insider" as alleging "tongues were wagging that they looked a little frosty" during a recent outing with their son, Tennessee. The same unnamed and quite possibly made-up source further vaguely asserts, "It raised a few eyebrows and people just hope that everything is OK between them."
Whose tongues were "wagging"? Whose "eyebrows" were raised? And who are these "people" who are so concerned? It bears mentioning that no legitimate outlets portrayed the same outing with Witherspoon, Toth and their son as anything more than normal family time.
The supposed "insider" goes on to contend without any specifics or proof, "Their marriage has had its ups and down, and they're both workaholics, so that's got to be tough on any relationship." After noting how Witherspoon just wrapped the second season of "Big Little Lies," runs a fashion line, is currently promoting her book, Whiskey In A Teacup, and has several other upcoming projects, including an Apple TV series with Jennifer Aniston, the untraceable and unidentifiable tipster again maintains without hard facts, "People are starting to wonder what kind of impact that could be having on her marriage." Again, who are these "people"?
The reality is Witherspoon and Toth are not having marital problems. And if there's anyone who would understand the demands of an actor, especially a busy one, it's the Oscar-winner's husband, who's a top Hollywood agent and the head of the motion picture talent department at CAA. Among others, Toth's client list includes Jamie Foxx, Scarlett Johansson, Matthew McConnaughey, and Robert Downey Jr., just a name a very few.
This isn't the first time the tabloid has falsely alleged there's trouble in the couple's marriage. Just a month ago, Gossip Cop shot down a story from the same outlet that wrongly asserted Witherspoon and Toth were having "tension" because of her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, with whom the actress had been photographed. But the exes' time together was nothing more than them co-parenting their son Deacon.
On the contrary, the actress and the agent share a very loving relationship. Just a few weeks ago, Witherspoon paid tribute on Instagram to Toth on his birthday. Alongside a photo of them together, she wrote, "Happy birthday to the best husband, friend, and father in the world !! I love you JT. ( and you make me laugh EVERYday! what's better than that?!)"
And while it's true, she has been spending a good part of September promoting Whiskey In A Teacup, right before hitting the road on her book tour, Witherspoon posted on Instagram a photo of her, Toth and their son Tennessee enjoying a beach sunset. In addition to that photographic proof, a source close to the actress tells Gossip Cop everything is okay between Toth and Witherspoon. We reached out to a rep for the actress but have yet to hear back.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
