A tabloid claims Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth's recent getaway to Paris got "tense" as they're having marriage problems. Nothing about the story is true. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Late last month, the actress and her husband traveled to Paris to celebrate the wedding of her "Big Little Lies" co-star Zoe Kravitz. According to Woman's Day, the trip took a wrong turn when Witherspoon and Toth began fighting about her "crazy" work schedule.
"Jim's been begging her to slow down and make more time for their relationship, but she's having none of it," an alleged source tells the outlet. "This trip to France was supposed to be an opportunity for them to spend some quality time together, but they've barely had a moment to themselves, and she can't seem to put her phone down when they are alone."
The purported insider further contends Witherspoon's husband made it clear during the trip that "they have a lot of talking to do" when they get back home to Los Angeles. The questionable tipster goes on to say that Toth isn't happy about his wife's career coming "at the expense of their marriage," adding, "Jim's fed up with playing second or even third fiddle and says Reese needs a lesson in prioritizing."
The tabloid's account of the couple's relationship is bogus. In fact, Witherspoon shared an Instagram photo of the couple's fun trip overseas. The actress posted a picture of her and her husband dressed up for a night on the town, along with the caption, "Date night in Paris."
Also during the trip, paparazzi snapped photos of Witherspoon and Toth smiling as they strolled through the streets of Paris. One of the photos from the outing shows the actress stopping to take a selfie with her husband. It's clear there was nothing "tense" about the couple's trip to France.
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Witherspoon and Toth, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us the outlet's story is fabricated. We're told Toth is completely supportive of his wife's career and doesn't feel like he comes second to her work. The actress and the talent agent, who has a busy career of his own, make plenty of time for each other.
Just last month, Gossip Cop busted Woman's Day for falsely claiming Witherspoon was leaning on Nicole Kidman amid supposed marriage problems with her husband. Shortly before that, the publication made up a story about Toth being fed up with Witherspoon's so-called "partying."
And last year, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for concocting a similar premise about Witherspoon and Toth's marriage being in trouble over the actress's busy work schedule. The premise wasn't true then, and it's no more accurate now. The tabloid's repeated attempts at creating nonexistent tension between the spouses are baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
