Reese Witherspoon Nicole Kidman Feud

Reese Witherspoon is not “furious” with Nicole Kidman, despite yet another inaccurate report. Gossip Cop can bust this wrong and duplicative claim about the two “Big Little Lies” costars feuding. We’re told it’s (still) not true.

According to an article in the New York Daily News, Witherspoon is “furious” with Kidman for allegedly failing to promote their new HBO show, “Big Little Lies.” A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Reese is furious that Nicole hasn’t done more to support ‘Big Little Lies.'” “Had Reese known that Nicole would put the show so far on the backburner, she would have cast some random,” adds the unnamed “source.” The newspaper then contends, “Witherspoon expects loyalty from her longtime friends on and off set.”

Sound familiar? It should. Gossip Cop already debunked this fabricated report when Star first published its inaccurate claim about Witherspoon and Kidman feuding. As we noted a few days ago, Witherspoon’s rep exclusively assured us the costars get along perfectly fine both on and off the set, and the magazine’s story was “completely made up.” What’s more, and what the Daily News failed to mention, is that Kidman is as vested in the success of “Big Little Lies” as is Witherspoon, because she too is an executive producer of the series.

But that’s not the worst part. The newspaper lazily picked up this already debunked report and wrongly attributed the “source” quotes to the Daily Mail, which lazily picked up its story and quotes from the Australian magazine New Idea, which lazily picked up the original story and quotes from Star. Instead of smartly ignoring the untrue tale, they all simply regurgitated other outlets and incorrectly attributed where the phony quotes came from. Additionally, none of the publications noted how Gossip Cop corrected the first inaccurate article. The result? A slew of duplicative fake news stories.
