Did Rebel Wilson and Ruby Rose strike up a feud on the Pitch Perfect 3 set? That's the latest from the tabloids. Gossip Cop can reveal what's really going on.
Rose is new to the Pitch Perfect cast while Wilson is back for the film series' third installment. Filming recently wrapped, but not without some drama along the way, according to OK!. The magazine contends Rose's time with the production "wasn't quite the bonding session" that Wilson was "expecting." The tabloid asserts Wilson was "thrilled to welcome" Rose to the franchise, "imagining they'd connect about life Down Under."
But, contends the outlet, Rose "didn't respond well to Rebel's brand of rapid-fire humor, and the Barden Bellas vet gave up hope they were ever going to harmonize." A so-called "set insider" alleges to the publication, "When Ruby didn't roll around laughing, Rebel decided she was dull. She even got a little pouty about it. It didn't help that everyone else was really enjoying Ruby's cool and quirky vibe." The magazine's purported tipster adds, "Ruby definitely rubbed her the wrong way!"
Notably, though, while claiming the co-stars "hit a sour note," OK! conveniently fails to mention that Wilson and Rose did actually bond at a luncheon the former threw for Australia Day back in January. Wilson uploaded video of the celebration to Instagram at the time, and Rose was clearly one of the attendees.
The timing of this tale is also suspicious. While filming finished in early April, shooting began in January. If the colleagues had such on-set issues as claimed by the magazine, it's awfully odd they're only being reported by this one outlet three months after they started working together. It also seems the two women are being pitted against each other simply because they're both Australian.
In addition, Rose plays a rival to Wilson's Bellas in the upcoming movie, and it seems the publication might be mixing up their fictional on-screen dynamic with their real off-screen one. Gossip Cop is told by a source that while Rose and Wilson didn't end up the best of friends during the short time they worked together, there was no full-blown feud. The Aussie natives will reunite later this year for premieres and press tours, and we're assured both are looking forward to promoting the project.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
