Rachel Lindsay appeared on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America” to discuss being chosen as the first black star of “The Bachelorette.” Watch the full “GMA” interview below!

Lindsay spoke to Michael Strahan in a live segment on the morning show about becoming the first African-American woman to star on the upcoming season of the popular reality show. As Gossip Cop reported, it was officially announced on Monday during “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that Lindsay had been picked as the next “Bachelorette.” When Strahan asked the star how people were reacting to the news, she said, “I haven’t been on social media, so I haven’t seen that much yet. But the cast members who I was on the season with have been great. Family and friends have been wonderful too. I’m just glad I don’t have to keep it a secret anymore!”

Lindsay, who is on the current season of “The Bachelor,” went on to discuss how it felt when she was first approached about becoming the next “Bachelorette.” “I’m a skeptical person,” Lindsay noted. “I was excited that they asked me to do it, but I was also nervous. But then I started to weigh out the pros and the cons, and I decided it was too good of an opportunity to turn down.”

Strahan also asked Lindsay if she felt any added pressure about becoming the first black woman to lead the reality competition. “I don’t feel added pressure,” Lindsay noted. “I’m honored to have this opportunity and represent myself as an African-American woman. I just hope people rally behind me, like they did in Nick’s season.” “I’m just trying to find love, and even though I’m an African-American woman, it’s no different from any other Bachelorette,” she said. Check out the full “GMA” interview below, in which she also discusses the current season of “The Bachelor.”
