A new tabloid report alleges Queen Elizabeth is upset about Meghan Markle’s ex-husband, Trevor Engelson, making a royal-inspired sitcom, but the entire story is nothing more than a fabrication. Gossip Cop can debunk this bogus claim.

The baseless allegation can be found in the pages of this week’s Life & Style, which blares in a headline, “Meghan’s Ex Creates New Drama With Harry.” In the seemingly untrue article, the magazine falsely contends that Engelson’s new TV show, which is loosely based on his seven-year-long relationship with the “Suits” actress, is “causing a stir at the palace.” A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “Those who advise the Queen fear this will open the floodgates for others to sell stories or cash in on Meghan’s past. This is the last thing they wanted.”

What’s more, the outlet’s questionable “insider” goes on to allege, “An engagement announcement was due any day, but this could delay that until they decide how to handle the damage.” The often unreliable publication adds that the “fictionalized account of Meghan’s divorce couldn’t come at a worse time.” “Some of the Queen’s advisers think Meghan is not the right material to be a princess, and stories like this give them ammunition,” further purports the magazine’s supposed “royal expert,” before concluding, “[Queen Elizabeth] must protect the monarchy.”

Let Gossip Cop set the record straight on Life & Style’s royally inaccurate tale. While it has been reported that Engelson is using his real life romance with the actress as inspiration to develop a new half-hour sitcom, we’re assured by a royal source that the prospect of the show is not upsetting Queen Elizabeth, nor has it delayed an “engagement announcement.” Put simply, the entire story is “false.”

Of course, we’re not remotely surprised by the tabloid’s latest concoction. Just days ago, Gossip Cop called out the magazine when it wrongly alleged that Markle’s friends were planning an English tea party for the star once she announces her engagement to Prince Harry. Much like that manufactured article, Life & Style’s most recent story is similarly phony.
