The clown known as Puddles Pity Party sang an appropriately mopey song on “America’s Got Talent” on Tuesday, winning over the judges. Watch the video below!

During his audition, which aired on the season 12 premiere in May, Puddles seemed to surprise and perplex the panel when he took the stage. He wouldn’t speak, instead only miming to indicate that he was a “little bit sad.” So, imagine everyone’s shock when he then started belting out Sia’s Chandelier. Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel even gave a standing ovation.

Now Puddles and his depressed singing self had to impress the pair, and the rest of the panelists, for a second time to survive the Judge Cuts round. And when the clown took the stage, Cowell dryly said with a tiny laugh, “Okay, this is going to be quite an uncomfortable conversation again.” As guest judge DJ Khaled looked on confused, the mogul went on, “You were very good the first time we saw you, but you were very sad and you still look sad. But you are happy to be here? A bit?”

Maybe just a tiny bit, but good luck getting a smile out of the guy. Backed by an on-stage pianist, Puddles launched into “All By Myself,” and DJ Khaled went from confused to stunned. The final note, in particular, was a sight to behold, or perhaps a sound to hear. Mel B even gave a standing ovation. She said afterward, “Aw, I love you. As soon as you walked on the stage, I’m like, ‘Oh it’s the sad clown who doesn’t talk but sings your ass off!”

Heidi Klum said she is a fan of Puddles, too, but “I don’t find myself being super-excited or jumping out of my seat.” Still processing, DJ Khaled admitted, “This is my first time witnessing this. I’m confused, because you have a beautiful voice. Cheer up, man.” Cowell actually disagreed with that advice.

“I literally can’t bear clowns, but you can’t talk and then you sing these very emotional songs. Because of that, I can connect with you,” the mogul said, even adding, “I think if you were happy, I literally can’t bear it.” DJ Khaled stressed, “I’m just trying to help a brother out,” which prompted Cowell to hilarious confess, “I just want him to stay miserable.” Check out the videos below!
