Princess Diana and John F. Kennedy Jr. did not have a "secret affair" more than 20 years ago, despite a new tabloid cover story's claim. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this made-up report. We're told it's 100 percent untrue.
The late royal and magazine publisher met at New York City's Carlyle Hotel in 1995 to discuss the possibility of her giving an interview to his political lifestyle magazine, George. The collaboration ultimately never happened and the two went their separate ways. The latest issue of Star, however, is now contending the pair's business meeting led to a short-lived, yet passionate love affair.
The repeatedly discredited outlet alleges Princess Diana was "was so taken with John's seductive charm and stunning good looks" that she invited him up to her penthouse suite at the upscale hotel, and the two ended up in bed together. At the time, the royal was estranged from husband Prince Charles, while Kennedy was dating future wife Carolyn Bessette. A supposed "source" tells the magazine, "It's known that Di rated all her lovers from one to 10 - and she gushed that John broke the scale. She said he was far and away the best she'd ever had."
The magazine's seemingly phony source, who appears to have read a few too many romance novels, continues, "The sex was at times tender and ethereal, at others it was unbridled and physically exhausting. It was the only time in her life that she had fallen so hard and fast." The highly suspect "insider" goes on to maintain that Princess Diana and Kennedy continued their supposed affair with secret phone calls in the weeks that followed, while also "taking pains to conceal their cheating."
The unreliable tabloid furthers asserts that the pair's relationship wasn't just physical, quoting its questionable source as saying, "Diana fantasized about marrying John" and "even wanted to have a child" with the late publisher, who allegedly "told Diana he daydreamed about them moving to [Turkey] together." The "insider" then contends their "relationship fizzled" as distance took its toll, and both ultimately accepted their brief romance was simply "an exhilarating, unforgettable fling."
This sordid tale, however, is simply a fabrication and nothing more than Star arbitrarily trying to concoct a scandalous affair between two deceased celebrities. RoseMarie Terenzio, Kennedy's former chief of staff and close confidante who joined him during that meeting with Princess Diana, exclusively tells Gossip Cop the publication's report is "all untrue." For starters, we're told the late princess didn't secretly invite Kennedy up to her suite to have sex after their talk because the pair's "45-minute meeting was held in her room" from the onset and she never went downstairs because it would have caused mayhem had she been out in the lobby.
Terenzio also tells Gossip Cop that after the under-an-hour meeting in which Kennedy asked whether she would do an interview and shoot for George, Princess Di essentially said, "Thank you very much, but she wasn't ready to do anything and if she changed her mind she would have someone contact him." Kennedy's former employee further recalls the meeting ended with Princess Diana "wishing him well in his relationship" with Bessette and telling him "she hoped the paparazzi would not continue to bother him." And finally, Terenzio says the two never met up again, there was no sex, and he never daydreamed about living with her in Turkey.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
