Prince Harry Meghan Markle Wedding Baby Announcement

(New Idea)

An Australian tabloid is claiming to have details on a “wedding and baby” announcement for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. But this new cover story was completely made up, Gossip Cop can reveal.

The latest cover of New Idea is declaring, “Double Joy Confirmed: Meghan & Harry Wedding & A Baby!” This is a lie. Nothing is confirmed. Similarly, on its website, the tabloid is blaring, “It’s official!” But that’s a lie, too. Nothing is official. The gossip magazine has no official confirmation of anything, but nevertheless asserts, “It’s the royal engagement news the world has been waiting for — and now it seems two new announcements are on the way for Prince Harry and his bride-to-be, Meghan.”

“Wedding invitations have been sent out to special guests for a ‘winter wedding’ in the UK, with the Queen giving her blessing for the hugely anticipated royal nuptials,” contends the outlet, which quotes a “top palace courtier” as saying, “Invitations have been sent to senior royals and key dignitaries to ‘save the date.’ Given that there’s a very short turnaround on the announcement and wedding, the Queen wants to make sure that none of the senior royals and politicians organize holidays or special events around that time.”

But no real “palace courtier” would dare break protocol by talking to an Australian tabloid about this, even anonymously. The publication actually wants readers to believe that someone close to Queen Elizabeth leaked, “The Queen wants to wait until after her and Philip’s anniversary celebrations are over before making an announcement on the wedding date, but plans for a winter ceremony are well under way.” And that’s not all.

According to this disreputable magazine, “More bombshell announcements are on their way, amid rumours that the couple are expecting their first child and could be married in as little as eight weeks.” A “top palace courtier,” though it’s unclear if it’s meant to be the same one mentioned above, supposedly tells the outlet, “We’ve heard on very good authority that Meghan is already pregnant. Prince Harry has told the Queen that they would like to marry ‘as soon as possible,’ which is only making the pregnancy speculation even more rife.”

Nowhere, however, does New Idea address its September report that claimed Prince Harry and Markle were “already married.” In that story, the tabloid claimed the couple wed in July in a “secret royal ceremony” near the Queen’s private residence in Balmoral.” Those allegations were completely wrong, and they serve as evidence that the publication doesn’t really have trustworthy royal sources. It is possible Prince Harry and Markle will wed next year, and, after they do, it is likely they will have a baby. But Gossip Cop is told absolutely no one would be leaking details of any such plans to this outlet. In fact, one of our contacts laughed at the cover story, calling it “very creative.”
