A new report claiming Prince Harry plans to surprise Meghan Markle for their wedding with a gift of a sapphire-and-diamond bracelet that once belonged to Princess Diana is made-up. Gossip Cop is assured no one from Kensington Palace has leaked that information. It’s simply a fabrication, based on the fact that Princess Di had several pieces of jewelry made out of sapphires and diamonds.

While not one single legitimate British news outlet has reported this, HollywoodLife, a site known for its manufactured articles, now maintains it has exclusively learned that before Prince Harry weds Markle on May 19 in Windsor Castle, he’s going to gift his fiancee with one of his late mom’s bracelets. A so-called “insider” is quoted as telling the often discredited outlet, “Diana was known for her love of sapphires and so Harry feels it is special, romantic and important for him to share the regal gem with his bride-to-be.” The same seemingly fake source adds, “Harry is hoping that Meghan will wear the sparkling piece on their wedding day as a sweet homage to his wonderful, loving mother.”

Does anyone believe that a real-life person would say in natural discourse, “Share the gem with his bride-to-be”? Also, the supposed quote about “Harry is hoping that Meghan will wear the sparkling piece on their wedding day” reads more like the website is hoping that so it’s doesn’t get caught in a lie for the hundredth time. Additionally, no palace “insider” would ever refer to the redheaded royal as just “Harry.” He or she would call him “Prince Harry.”

Of course, as widely reported, the engagement ring Prince Harry designed for Markle came from two diamonds that belonged to his late mom, as well as from a central stone from Botswana, a place that’s special to the couple. And it’s also well-known that Princess Diana had a collection of sapphire pieces of jewelry, including earrings, a necklace, and bracelets. A number of the Aspry-designed baubles were given as presents to Princess Di by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of her wedding to Prince Charles.

HollywoodLies, as the blog is often called, has a history of making up tall tales about the royals. Last year, for instance, Gossip Cop busted the site when it falsely claimed Prince Harry was in a “romance” with Invictus Games swimmer Elizabeth Marks. That was not only a complete fabrication, but it also exposed how the outlet doesn’t fact-check. Otherwise, it would have known the injured U.S. Army Sergeant is happily married. Much like that wholly concocted story, HollywoodLife’s latest article about Prince Harry gifting Markle with a sapphire-and-diamond bracelet that once belonged to Princess Diana is also untrue.
