Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are traveling to Los Angeles for Thanksgiving. According to a tabloid, however, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are actually moving there, and they’re in for a rude awakening when they arrive in Hollywood. Gossip Cop can bust the phony story; its premise is just not true.
This week’s National Enquirer has a completely laughable article that is built on a totally false premise. It’s a follow up to a story Gossip Cop busted last week that erroneously declared Prince Harry and Markle were quitting the royal family and Queen Elizabeth had stripped them of their titles, their royal home and their financial stipend. This week’s article builds on that by adding in another often debunked rumor about the couple leaving England and moving to southern California.
Despite those narratives being untrue, the publication uses both to write a wild and outlandish story about how the couple will be treated poorly without their titles and money among the other A-list celebrities in LA. The report quotes what it describes as a “high-level palace source,” who the outlet seems to think knows a lot about celebrity culture in Hollywood. The so-called “source” tells the magazine, “This is a classic case of be careful what you wish for. Blinded by love, he’s ditched the royals to start a new life in Meghan’s hometown, but it’s going to come back to bite him. Badly!”
The unnamed insider goes on to say all kinds of insane things – from digs at Markle’s estrangement from her father, to Prince Harry’s fair skin getting sunburned in the California sun. The tipster also elaborates on how Prince Harry will have to deal with a different lifestyle, like “buying his own groceries, picking up coffee”. Even if the story were true – and it’s not – it makes the prince sound like an alien adjusting to life on a new planet.
Prince Harry served 10 years in the British military, including two tours in Afghanistan, so it’s safe to say he could handle the parking lot of a Ralph’s supermarket if he had to. The anonymous “insider” finally adds, “Palace courtiers are betting he’ll be back in Britain by the end of 2020 – with or without Meghan!”
Prince Harry will certainly be back in Britain in 2020, because he’s not leaving his home country. This idea that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are moving to LA has been debunked countless times by Gossip Cop, going back as far as 2017. In June, the Enquirer published a similar report about Prince Harry and Markle moving to Hollywood to raise their son, Archie. No doubt that fairy tale inspired this latest one. The so-called “palace insiders” the tabloid claims to get its information from don’t have any insider knowledge at all. In reality, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will simply be visiting LA over Thanksgiving to spend time with her mother.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
