Is Prince George really begging to wear “big boy trousers” at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding? That’s the latest claim coming from one of this week’s tabloids, but Gossip Cop can set the record straight. We’re told it’s “not true.”

According to Star, the young prince is “already quite the negotiator,” and when he was told he’d be “front and center” at Prince Harry and Markle’s royal wedding in May, he supposedly asked if he could wear adult pants to the event. In terribly unnatural language, a so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “George decreed, ‘I’ll go and do fancy boring stuff if I can wear big boy trousers to the wedding.'” What’s more, the tabloid goes on to assert that the “little prince has been begging to ditch his goofy schoolboy uniform and dress more like his papa.”

But if it weren’t already obvious, the entire report, which is filled with fake quotes, is completely manufactured. A royal source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop the article is 100 percent “not true,” as four-year-old Prince George has expressed no interest one way or the other about wearing “big boy” pants to Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding. In fact, he’ll probably be dressed in knickers, like most page boys are at royal weddings. Plus, it’s tradition for young royals like Prince George to always wear shorts, so he certainly won’t be wearing trousers at his uncle’s wedding.

Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has busted an outlet for publishing a strange article about Prince George wearing “big boy” pants. In November, we called out the tabloid’s sister magazine, the National Enquirer, for falsely claiming Prince George stole and wore Prince William’s pants because he hated wearing “baby shorts.” And three months before that, we corrected the very same outlet when it bizarrely alleged Prince George threw a tantrum over having to wear trousers.

In that concocted story, the Enquirer ridiculously maintained the four-year-old royal kept “nagging” his parents to wear long, “grown-up” trousers. But much like this latest report published by Star, the tabloid employed made-up quotations from seemingly nonexistent sources. The most absurd quote claimed that Prince George yelled, “I’m going to be king one day, and a king should not wear goofy shorts!” We’re not sure why a slew of outlets seem to be fixated on the young royal and his short pants, but it’s all-around wrong and weird.
