Is Prince Charles fighting with Queen Elizabeth over her alleged decision to name Prince William and Kate Middleton king and queen of England? One of this week's tabloids contends Prince Charles is "arguing with his mother over the future of the monarchy," but Gossip Cop can correct this claim. We're told the report is "false."

Life & Style declares in a headline, "Charles Fights Back: I Won't Give Up The Throne!" According to the accompanying article, Queen Elizabeth has chosen "young, charismatic William and his wife Kate Middleton to become king and queen when she dies," but an infuriated Prince Charles is "fighting for his birthright" to sit on the throne. A so-called "insider" tells the outlet, "There is no way Charles is going to give up the throne after waiting his entire life to take it."

The magazine's supposed "source" goes on to maintain that Prince William "feels torn between his father and grandmother. It's a difficult balancing act, but he thinks it will all sort itself out as time goes on." The publication's alleged tipster concludes, "Elizabeth still wants William to be the next king. She wishes Charles and Camilla," who "always wanted to be the next queen of England," would "just accept her decision."

Gossip Cop looked into the tabloid's story, and a palace insider assures us the article is "false." The magazine's tale about Prince Charles fighting with Queen Elizabeth over the future of the British monarchy is 100 percent fabricated and inaccurate. Despite the publication's premise, Prince William will not be king before Prince Charles. There will be no skipping of generations. In fact, of late Prince Charles has already begun taking over some of the queen's duties. It's also worth noting, as an aside, that no real "palace source" would ever refer to the queen as just "Elizabeth," which the American outlet did.

This isn't the first time Gossip Cop has busted the magazine for publishing an inaccurate story about the British royal family. For example, we corrected Life & Style in August when it earlier reported wrongly in a cover story that Prince William and Middleton had been named the next king and queen of England. It appears the latest tale about Prince Charles fighting for the throne is simply a cover-up for its false narrative about Prince William becoming king after Queen Elizabeth.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
