Portia de Rossi has not moved out of the home she shares with Ellen DeGeneres, nor has she set up her own "lesbian love shack," despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the claim. We're told it's "ridiculous."
According to the often ridiculous National Enquirer, a "fed-up" Rossi has stormed out on DeGeneres, and "sought sanctuary in a secret bachelorette pad, setting the stage for a blockbuster $350 million divorce." The repeatedly disproven magazine also published an aerial photo of a house it claims (with no proof whatsoever) is de Rossi's new "hideaway," where she's allegedly been busy "inviting over lesbian gal pals." The supermarket tabloid then quotes a so-called "friend" of the couple as saying, "Portia's inviting her lesbian friends over for girls' nights in, ordering takeout, staying up late and sleeping in." "Portia is tired with being the stay-at-home wife, while Ellen gets the big career," adds the outlet's questionable source.
The story goes on and on about DeGeneres and de Rossi's alleged marital problems, but Gossip Cop will stop here, and point out a few of the article's absurdities. For starters, it's rather odd the magazine keeps focusing on the home being de Rossi's "lesbian love shack." While it's true she's gay, she does have many straight friends. But more bizarre is that the tabloid calls that home de Rossi's "secret bachelorette pad," and then later states the house is a property she and DeGeneres "bought in Beverly Hills months ago." How is that a "secret" de Rossi pad if DeGeneres paid for it?
Additionally, the publication's purported source says, "Portia is tired with being the stay-at-home wife." Gossip Cop wonders if the magazine's alleged insider actually knows the couple or even owns a TV. Far from being a "stay-at-home wife," de Rossi is on both the ABC hit "Scandal" and the Netflix series "Santa Clarita Diet."
Regardless of all the factual errors, seemingly made-up quotations, weird fixation on de Rossi's sexual orientation, and history of been completely wrong about the couple, Gossip Cop still checked in with an impeccable insider, who's close to both DeGeneres and de Rossi. We're told the tabloid's article is outright "ridiculous." The actress has not moved out on DeGeneres, nor has she fled to a "secret bachelorette pad." The magazine's story is simply filled with falsehoods.
Sadly, Gossip Cop is not remotely surprised by this. One year ago, the tabloid falsely reported on its cover that DeGeneres and de Rossi were getting a divorce. And three years ago, we busted the magazine when it inaccurately asserted DeGeneres and de Rossi were fighting over having a baby. As Gossip Cop correctly noted, both those stories were fabrications, and so is the latest article that wrongly alleges de Rossi has moved out of the home she shares with DeGeneres.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
