An enraged Piers Morgan ranted about the Charleston church shooting on Twitter on Thursday, before publishing a column in the Daily Mail that decried gun use in America.

As Gossip Cop has reported, Morgan is a gun control advocate, who has openly, and repeatedly, criticized the United States government for not having stricter laws regarding weapons. As noted in 2012, the former CNN host was even targeted by gun rights activists with a petition to have him deported in the wake of comments he made after the Sandy Hook massacre. And when “Piers Morgan Tonight” was canceled last year, he told the New York Times, “Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it.”

Morgan, however, remains committed to the cause, and the fatal shooting of nine people at the Emanuel AME Church led him to again speak out. He tweeted early Thursday, “Such a sickening outrage. Wake up America, your gun culture is disgusting.” He later posted, “Where are you today @NRA? Want to tell us the bible group should have all had guns too?” Morgan even suggested, “PREDICTION: Gun sales will soar in South Carolina this week. It’s America’s only response to mass shootings: more guns.”

The controversial figure went on to channel his anger in a piece for the Daily Mail, where he is an editor at large. With a headline that read “26 things that made me sick to my stomach the minute I woke up this morning… again,” Morgan wrote, “I’m sick of waking up to yet another hideous, needless gun massacre in America. I’m sick of seeing the helpless, grieving relatives weeping and wailing for their lost ones. I’m sick of hearing that the mass shooter, as at Newton, Aurora and now Charleston, was a twisted young white kid with a mental disorder who absurdly easy access to guns.”

Morgan also criticized President Obama, who held a press conference about the tragedy earlier Thursday, where he said incidents like these show why gun control is needed, and that “We as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.” But that wasn’t enough for Morgan. “I’m sick of President Obama biting his lip in post-massacre statements as he did today, pretending he deeply cares when he, too, has done absolutely nothing to stop these atrocities happening,” he wrote. “In his last State of Union address, Obama never even mentioned the word ‘gun’ – a shameful omission.”

The British star also referenced Vince Vaughn’s recent interview about gun rights, saying, “I’m sick of idiot celebrities like Vince Vaughan informing us that ‘banning guns is like banning forks to stop making people fat.'” Morgan went on to say of the recent high-profile police shootings, “I’m sick of seeing endless police shoot-outs happen simply because U.S. cops fear everyone has a gun. This paranoia, which is often based on reality, has turned America back into the Wild West, where the slightest altercation rapidly becomes the OK Corral.”

“I’m sick of everything from cars to pet dogs being more tightly regulated in the U.S. than guns and nobody thinking that’s just ridiculous,” argued Morgan. He concluded, “I’m sick of all the tears and misery and fury and despair felt by everyone whose life is touched and destroyed by guns in America. I’m sick of this. YOU should be too.”

After sharing a link to his essay on Twitter, Morgan went on to retweet the negative reactions he was receiving, such as, “I’m sick of Brits talking about OUR country! Get the hell out if you don’t like it. You have no say in our laws & culture!!” Another said, “Your British audience will applaud you. The rest of us think you’re embarrassing.” Morgan responded, “Gun nuts instantly spewing their venom over my new column. Good. Bring it on, you nasty pieces of work.”

Morgan also predicted the backlash in his column, where he wrote, “I’m sick of gun nuts on social media arrogantly, defiantly insisting their ‘rights’ are more important than the deaths of the victims.” He further said, “I’m sick of anyone who dares use the phrase ‘gun control’ in America being instantly abused and labeled an ‘enemy of the state.'” TELL US: What do you think of Morgan’s remarks?
