“Two and a Half Men” star Jon Cryer wrote to the actress, “Oh god. Terrifying. Be safe. Be strong. And don’t be afraid to ask for help.” Harry Ford from “Code Black” tweeted, “Shining a light on you now. I’m so very sorry.” Marlee Matlin expressed, “So sorry to hear about your attack but so grateful you’re okay and the attacker was caught. Thinking of you.” And radio personality Elvis Duran said, “Warm love, Pauley.”

A fan with the Twitter handle @mouseferatu noted, “You don’t know me, and I’m sure I’m just one voice among many, but… We’re grateful you’re alive, too. I’m so sorry this happened.” A user named @riayn wrote, “How terrifying! Take your time to heal, but try not to lose your love and kindness. It’s what makes you beautiful.”

Meanwhile, a follower named @DanielJ_Film tweeted, “Hope you are ok, but don’t let this change the way you look at and help the homeless. They cannot be judged based by just one.” And a fan with the Twitter name @Cuff_S thanked Perrette for “setting aside your fear and using your voice for this. That’s how you shine a light on the darkness.”

The suspect has been identified as a 45-year-old man named David Merck. The police arrested him for aggravated battery shortly after the incident occurred, and he is currently being held on a $100,000 bail.
