Paris Jackson was not “playing strip poker” when she posted a photo of herself with a deck of cards, contrary to a speculative and sensational report. Gossip Cop can help clear up this fake news.

Over the weekend, Jackson posted an Instagram picture of herself sitting with cards in her hand. Several were also spread out on a table, while many were piled in a deck. She appeared to be topless, which should be no big deal. As Gossip Cop has reported, Jackson believes nudity doesn’t have to be sexual. But CBS Local jumped to the seedy conclusion that the 19-year-old was caught up in a risque game.

“It looks like Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, had an interesting weekend. Strip poker? Strip rummy? Strip hearts? Ok, so we don’t really know what game she’s playing, but there is some level of nudity involved,” writes the outlet. “Since Paris doesn’t caption any of her Instagram posts, we can’t really know for sure what’s happening here. She may not really be naked. It could be a tube top. Maybe it’s some sort of modelling shoot.”

And yet the online publication, which distributes its content to various affiliates, still saw fit to make assumptions and run a salacious tale. That led Jackson herself to respond to the story via Twitter on Monday night. “This is ridiculous, they were tarot cards,” she tweeted. Ridiculous indeed. And Gossip Cop commends the teen for calling out the fake news.

This isn’t the first time Jackson has used Twitter to defend herself against made-up stories. Last year, for instance, she rightly ripped RadarOnline for false relapse and intervention stories. “These pathetic attempts at slander make these media low-lives seem ignorant and trashy,” she tweeted, as Gossip Cop reported at the time. More recently, earlier this month, Jackson hit back at reports she was dating Trevor Donovan by pointing out that “hand-holding is a very common thing.” Gossip Cop hopes the blossoming model continues to stand up for herself, and we are happy to help separate fact from fiction when necessary.
