Paris Jackson is not becoming the legal guardian for her brother Blanket, despite a report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this untrue story.

Playing off a classic Michael Jackson lyric, In Touch begins its false article by declaring, “The kid is not her son, but Paris Jackson wants to care for him anyway!” According to the tabloid, Paris is “taking steps to become” Blanket’s guardian, even though her grandmother Katherine and cousin T.J. currently share that role. A so-called “insider” alleges to the gossip magazine that Paris feels her grandma is “too old” to “properly” care for her 15-year-old brother, and further asserts Paris believes “she can do a better job” than T.J., who was also her co-guardian until she turned 18.

The supposed source contends to the tabloid, “Her dad’s wish was always to keep the family together, and that’s exactly what Paris is going to do.” But this purported tipster never explains why the family still wouldn’t be “together” with T.J. and Katherine maintaining guardianship. Nor does the outlet say what “steps” Paris has taken to make this legal change. Also not mentioned is how Katherine and T.J. feel about it, and whether they intend to fight the alleged move. The publication’s snitch merely says Blanket is “on board with the plan,” even though there is far more involved in such a process than how he feels.

Given all the missing information that would be relevant to the bold, serious claim that Paris is on her way to becoming Blanket’s legal guardian, Gossip Cop was suspicious of this story. And our doubts were confirmed when our investigation turned up no evidence of an impending change in Blanket’s guardianship. Now a rep for Paris exclusively tells Gossip Cop the report is “not true.”

With Paris stepping more into the spotlight over the last few months, there’s been an influx of untrue tabloid and webloid stories about her. Just last week, Gossip Cop busted RadarOnline for falsely claiming Paris was moving in with Janet Jackson. And we also debunked a Star story that ridiculously and wrongly alleged Paris was buying her modeling career by spending thousands on stylists and trainers. It’s all fake news, and Gossip Cop will continue separating fact from fiction as necessary.
