Is Paris Hilton using Nicole Richie as a wedding planner? That’s what a certain tabloid is claiming based on allegations originally from nearly a year ago. Gossip Cop investigated, however, and we can now exclusively correct the story.
As was widely reported last week, Hilton is engaged to Chris Zylka. The actor, probably best known for starring on “The Leftovers,” proposed during a New Year’s ski trip in Aspen. As seen in video Hilton later shared on social media, he dropped to one knee right on the snow-covered ground and presented the socialite with a 20-carat diamond engagement ring. The couple, who began dating last year, are now eager to plan their wedding, with Hilton telling “Entertainment Tonight” at a Golden Globes party on Sunday, “We want to do it as soon as possible.”
But the National Enquirer is claiming to already have insight on the nuptials. The gossip magazine announces in a headline on its website, “The Inside Story! Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie Reunite For Dream Wedding.” Though Hilton only got engaged a week ago, the outlet is boasting that it already “had the scoop” almost a year ago “on how she’s bringing in Nicole Richie to plan the wedding.” Quoting from an April 2017 story, the publication cites an “insider,” who supposedly said, “Paris wants a ceremony to rival a royal wedding and thinks Nicole is the only one who can pull it off.”
The supermarket tabloid maintains that “fortunately,” Richie was “ready to sign on to help her plan the dream ceremony.” In fact, despite allegedly being in a “cold war” after their old reality show, “The Simple Life,” ended a decade ago, the magazine claims Richie was “ready to dive right into her role as Paris’ wedding planner.” The purported source asserted that not only was Richie “honored when Paris asked her to design her wedding gown,” but “now they’re planning a new show together” called “The Married Life.”
For the record, Richie has been married to Joel Madden since 2010 and already has a presence on television as a main cast member on the NBC sitcom “Great News,” which is currently in its second season. It’s not like she just got married or is in need of a new TV gig. And though Hilton has spoken to multiple outlets about her engagement and wedding, she has never mentioned enlisting Richie’s help. In the aforementioned “ET” interview, for example, the only people mentioned were her own family, with Hilton sharing, “We’re going to have dinner with my parents this week to start planning.”
Of course, Gossip Cop still investigated further, and a Hilton contact exclusively tells us it’s “not true” Richie will be serving as her wedding planner. It isn’t even known for sure yet if she’ll be among the guests for the big day. Whenever and however the nuptials end up happening, it’s probably best not to expect the National Enquirer to have the accurate details.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
