An insensitive new report claims Owen Wilson’s friends fear he might be driven to suicide over the recent death of his father. Gossip Cop looked into this shocking claim, and we can exclusively reveal the truth.

The comedic actor’s dad, TV producer Robert Wilson, died at 75 last month following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. RadarOnline has now published an article with the drastic headline, “New Suicide Fears For Owen Wilson After Dad’s Death.” The webloid claims that pals of the Wedding Crashers star believe he could fall into a deep depression and take his own life as a result of his father’s passing. “We all need to keep an eye on him,” a so-called “pal” of the actor tells the site.

But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Wilson, who called the site’s claim “disgusting” before exclusively assuring us, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” The repeatedly discredited webloid has seemingly used the death of the actor’s father to concoct a fake story related to his troubles from a decade ago. However, no one in Wilson’s inner circle believes he’s in danger of harming himself, and the site’s bogus claim is simply offensive.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to call out RadarOnline for publishing a story of this grim nature. Gossip Cop busted the site last year for wrongly reporting that Kanye West was on suicide watch following his hospitalization. As for the Zoolander actor, we previously corrected the website’s sister outlet, Star, for alleging Julia Roberts was divorcing her husband for Wilson. This latest article is simply more fake news.
