Oprah and Janet Jackson have no plans to do a movie together, despite a report from the tabloids. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the untrue story.
According to the National Enquirer, Jackson is "awe-inspired" by the way her niece Paris is "firing up headlines." Now, according to the supermarket tabloid, she wants to steal back some of the spotlight for herself. The article alleges the singer is "secretly plotting" with Oprah to "give Michael's teen daughter a run for her money" and "[knock her out] at Hollywood's box office."
Jackson is "itching to get back onto the big screen," a so-called "source" claims to the gossip magazine. The supposed snitch contends she's "huddling round-the-clock with Oprah, who's dying to produce her comeback." What's more is the outlet's alleged tipster further asserts Jackson is "not only determined to act, [but] she's actually aiming for an Oscar! And with Oprah in her corner, anything's possible!"
Tellingly, though, the publication has absolutely no specifics about this purported movie project. There is nothing mentioned about a director, a cast, a plot or a release date. Additionally, it doesn't make much sense for Jackson and Paris to "tussle over screen stardom." The 19-year-old has only scored one small part to date. It's not like she's dominating the box office.
And Jackson currently has her hands full with her son, who is not even 6-months-old yet, and the resumption of her world tour. That doesn't leave much time to film a movie. But while it's possible Jackson could add acting to her plate at some point, particularly since she already has a few films under her belt, there is nothing currently in the works with Oprah. A rep for the media mogul exclusively tells Gossip Cop the story is "not true."
Unsurprisingly, the National Enquirer has a history of being wrong when it comes to both big stars. Last year, the tabloid was among the outlets that falsely speculated Jackson had a "cancerous tumor." And this past January, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for wrongly claiming Oprah demanded Stedman Graham marry her. Of course, Jackson is cancer-free as she always was, and Oprah is still happily unmarried with Graham.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
