One Direction made its debut red carpet appearance as a band of four at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne stepped out together at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand for their first awards show without Zayn Malik, who quit One Direction in March. See photos of them on the red carpet and video of One Direction winning at the Billboard Music Awards below.

The band headed into the night nominated for four Billboard Music Awards, and were sent to be presenters of an award. One Direction was up against, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, and Taylor Swift for Top Artist. They’re vying for the Top Duo/Group award with 5 Seconds of Summer, Florida Georgia Line, MAGIC!, and Maroon 5. One Direction was also squaring off against Smith and Swift, as well as Pentatonix and Ed Sheeran for Top Billboard 200 Artist. And the band was set to face Perry, Lady Gaga, The Rolling Stones, and Justin Timberlake for Top Touring Artist.

Minutes after walking the red carpet, One Direction won the ceremony’s first award for Top Duo/Group. Horan initially handled the acceptance speech, calling it an “incredible honor.” He went on to thank fans before Payne stepped up to the mic. He first acknowledged Billboard magazine for supporting their career, and then said, “There’s one more person to share this with, and that’s our brother Zayn.”

Last Thursday, One Direction made its TV debut as a foursome on “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” during which Payne admitted they were “angry” when Malik quit. he went on to say, they’ve moved on, and there are “no hard feelings” anymore.
