O.J. Simpson was not caught masturbating in prison, despite a fake news story. A tabloid claimed on Wednesday that Simpson may be denied parole on Thursday after a female corrections officer found the disgraced football star pleasuring himself. But Gossip Cop can bust this report.

The story was first published by the Daily Mail. According to a so-called “source” for the the British paper, “O.J. is facing a disciplinary hearing after being written up for masturbating in his prison cell” when a “female corrections officer making her normal rounds in late June” spotted Simpson pleasuring himself. As a result, the tabloid alleges, he “could be denied parole.”

The outlet’s alleged “source” claims, “While it’s not the most serious charge to be written up for in prison, it’s serious enough that any potential parole date [may] be delayed or his parole denied all together.” “O.J. is sweating bullets over his write up. He had been intentionally laying low for the past few months to avoid any problems and now this write-up could cost his freedom,” adds the questionable “source.”

While a touching story, it’s all not true. The Lovelock Correction Center, where Simpson is being held, said in a statement, “It is against Nevada Department of Corrections policy to release inmate disciplinary history to the public,” meaning no one from the prison made those claims to the Daily Mail. The prison also noted, “It is also against policy to release inaccurate information. No official from our department would have released the information in question.”

On Thursday, Simpson is set to appear via video before the Nevada Department of Corrections Parole Board, and there seems to be a good chance the four-person panel will grant his release from Lovelock. If paroled, Simpson will be eligible to leave prison as early as October. The former NFL player, who was found liable for the deaths of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman, has spent nearly nine years behind bars in Nevada. In 2008, Simpson was found guilty and sentenced to a maximum of 33 years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping after he and a few friends stole back some of his prized collectibles from memorabilia dealers at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in September 2007.
