Was O.J. Simpson slated to be interviewed by Caitlyn Jenner? That's what one of the tabloids reported exactly one year ago today. At the time, Gossip Cop said it wasn't true, and now 365 days later, it's abundantly clear the claim was false.surd
On November 25, 2017, In Touch maintained TV producers were working hard to get the "world's most famous transgender celebrity" to interview the "world's most famous acquitted murder suspect." Part of the appeal, alleged the tabloid, was that both former athletes had ties to the Kardashians. Jenner was previously married to Kris Jenner, who was a dear friend of Nicole Brown Simpson, the ex-wife for whom the former football player was accused of murder.
When it published its piece, the tabloid offered no details of when or where the supposed interview would take place. Nor did the magazine have any specifics about where it would air. It simply stated that getting the two in a room together would be "sensational." Actually, the story itself was just a sensationalized tale that hasn't happened in the intervening 12 months since the outlet's report, and will most assuredly never take place.
It appears the publication manufactured the claim on the heels of Simpson being released in October 2017. Regardless, since becoming a free man, the NFL star has not sat down for an interview. Additionally, Jenner has never expressed an interest in talking to him. When the bogus report came out a year ago, Jenner's rep, speaking on her behalf, told Gossip Cop exclusively that the magazine's story was "not true."
Of course, the premise itself was preposterous. Just a few weeks before the article, in a radio interview with the Australian program, "The Kyle and Jackie O Show," Jenner said she and Kris "knew [Simpson] was guilty." Based on that alone, there should have been no question that Jenner would have no interest in doing a TV special with Simpson.
It bears mentioning that In Touch has published a slew of absurd reports tying Simpson to the Jenners and Kardashians. Nearly five years ago to the day, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for a cover story that falsely alleged it had a paternity bombshell about how "O.J. Is Khloe's Father." Of course, all the parties involved have subsequently denied it, but it didn't stop the tabloid from claiming before Simpson's release that Kris and Khloe Kardashian were panicking that after he got out of prison it would finally be revealed he was Khloe's dad.
As we've previously noted, Gossip Cop occasionally revisits stories from a year ago to allow readers to better assess the trustworthiness of certain outlets. There should be little doubt at this point that In Touch has not been entirely reliable with its Simpson, Jenner and Kardashian articles. Gossip Cop, however, will continue to thoroughly investigate claims, all in an effort to separate fact from fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
