Nohemi Gonzalez, a California State University student, was killed in the Paris attacks, it was announced on Saturday.

At a press conference, a Parisian prosecutor revealed 129 people were murdered in Friday’s shootings and explosions. More than 300 were injured, nearly 100 of them seriously. A short time after, California State University at Long beach confirmed that Gonzalez was among the victims killed.

Gonzalez was a 20-year-old junior with a major in design. She was in Paris for a study abroad program, which had her spending the semester at Strate College of Design. In a statement, school president Jane Close Conoley says, “I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Long Beach State University student Nohemi Gonzalez.”

The statement continues “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this sad time. Our university stands with our nearly eighty foreign exchange students from France as they struggle with this tragedy. We will extend all support necessary to comfort them. We will also extend support to all students, faculty and staff who are in need.”

An on-campus vigil will be held in Gonzalez’s memory on Sunday. A California native, her family has not yet spoken publicly about the tragedy. Gossip Cop’s thoughts are with Gonzalez’s loved ones at this time.
