Noah Mac performed “In The Air Tonight” for “The Voice” season 13 Playoffs on Monday. Watch the video below!

The Playoffs are the fourth round of the NBC music competition, following the Blind Auditions, Battles and Knockouts. Like during the Knockouts, the contestants all have to perform solo songs. But they aren’t competing against a specific member of their team. Rather, they’re vying for one of there team’s three slots for the live shows. Going into the Playoffs, all the teams have six artists, including a comeback contender who was previously eliminated, but half of them are cut. With three singers then left on each team, together they form the Top 12.

So with this turn on the stage, Mac, who was originally on Blake Shelton’s team but stolen during the Battles, was hoping to be one of Jennifer Hudson’s three artists in the Top 12. And he certainly had a strong showing the last time he performed. Mac won his Knockout showdown with a performance of James Bay’s “Hold Back The River,” after which he was called a “superstar.” He even had key adviser Kelly Clarkson in tears during rehearsal. Now he hoped to prove his worth again with a Phil Collins classic.

In rehearsal, Hudson said she wanted all of Team J-Hud to show in the Playoffs what he did in the Knockouts. “You’re an artist, you’re a performer, you belong in this industry,” the coach told him. She was impressed that Mac came into the session with his own arrangement, and encouraged the 17-year-old to “find one money note.” He found that and more when it came time for the big performance. Miley Cyrus actually turned to Adam Levine at one point to say, “He is so hot.” Afterward, she said, “Team J-Hud, you got yourself a finalist for sure.”

Levine told Mac, “You had the only really true breakout. It’s a long competition but you just took the lead. You’re the frontrunner right now.” And Shelton amusingly turned to the audience to say, “I’m the guy who had Noah on his team and let him go. Stop judging me!” Hudson further called him a “star,” and Levine predicted, “He’s gonna win probably.” Following that positive feedback, Mac had to wait a few minutes to find out if Hudson would pick him to go to the live shows. And she did, of course, along with Davon Fleming and Shi’Ann Jones. Eliminated were Chris Weaver, Hannah Mrozak and comeback artist Lucas Holliday. Check out the video below!
