Nikki Reed and Nina Dobrev did not have to “prove they have no bad blood” because there was never any real issue between them. A certain webloid is once again claiming the two women have been at odds due to Ian Somerhalder, but Gossip Cop can debunk the story and expose the truth.

Reed and Dobrev spent time together at a Golden Globes party on Sunday night, with pal Lea Michele sharing a group photo on her Instagram page. That picture has led HollywoodLife to blare in a headline, “Nikki Reed & Nina Dobrev Prove They Have No Bad Blood With Girls’ Night At GG After-Party” (see screengrab above). First off, it wasn’t a “girls’ night.” Somerhalder, Reed’s husband, was in attendance with her. The site continues making missteps when it asserts, “They dated the same guy, but that didn’t stop Nina Dobrev and Nikki Reed from hanging out (sans Ian Somerhalder) after the Golden Globes.” Again, the actor was there with them.

Regardless, the webloid contends Reed and Dobrev “put any awkwardness aside” at the event, even though “for quite some time, it was rumored that there was a bitter feud between the two women.” But there was no “awkwardness” to put aside. The two actresses have been friends for years. And, most egregiously, HollywoodLies, as it’s known, is taking no responsibility for peddling the untrue feud rumors to which it obliquely refers.

Instead, the blog points out that the two women hit back at the claims last year. But what the outlet doesn’t mention is that Reed specifically slammed HollywoodLife in doing so. As Gossip Cop reported, Reed wrote on Instagram last February, “For the last few years we thought addressing any baseless rumors with silence was the best way. Besides, who wants to respond to made up stories about ‘friends backstabbing friends,’ ‘cheating exes,’ or ‘cast members exiting show’ on low-brow websites like hollywoodlife that are just perpetuating trends that preceded us.”

She went on, “I now see that silence was taken as an opportunity to fill in the blanks with even more falsities, and juicer stories… So here’s to putting an end to all those fake stories of on set jealousy, betrayal, made-up-friendships lost & women hating women.” Now here we are nearly a year later, and HollywoodLies is still promoting the untrue narrative that there was a “bitter feud” between Reed and Dobrev. This is just for the sake of being sensational and to push its own traffic-focused agenda.

The online publication even ends its piece by asking readers, “Are you surprised to see Nina and Nikki hanging out at the Golden Globes?” No, Gossip Cop is not surprised, and any publication legitimately in-the-know wouldn’t be either. The possibility of “awkwardness” due to a “love triangle” was non-existent, but nowhere does the webloid acknowledge that such past rumors were untrue, that it propagated those rumors and that Reed herself called HollywoodLies out for spreading them. At time when women in Hollywood are banding together more than ever, it’s shameful that the blog is still pitting them against each other with a man in the middle.
