Nicole Kidman has not been sending messages to her kids Bella and Connor, who she shares with Tom Cruise, in an effort to pry them away from Scientology. That’s the bogus narrative being peddled in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we’ve learned the truth.

“Nicole Secretly Fights To Win Back Kids!” reads a headline in the latest issue of the National Enquirer. According to the outlet, the actress doesn’t want her adult children involved in the controversial religion and she’s actively trying to get them out of it. “Things are getting hot for Scientology with court cases that threaten to blow the organization wide open,” a supposed source tells the publication, adding that Kidman wants Bella and Connor “out of harm’s way” should that happen.

The unreliable outlet doesn’t bother to explain the method Kidman has been using to reach out to her children. It’s unclear if she’s been calling, sending texts, writing emails or trying to contact them through other channels. It’s always a red flag when a magazine isn’t able to flesh out its premise with concrete details.

Additionally, the tabloid’s story is based on claims from an anonymous “source,” but Gossip Cop reached out to Kidman’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record there’s “no truth” to it. A rep qualified to speak on the actress’s behalf confirms she’s not interfering in her kids’ lives or trying to “save” them from Scientology.

Last year, in fact, Kidman spoke to Who magazine about Bella and Connor’s involvement in Scientology. The actress noted, “They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them.” Kidman further noted she supports her kids’ freedom to lead their lives as they see fit and will “always offer unconditional love.”

It should also be noted, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to call out the Enquirer for coming up with this premise. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming Kidman was moving to London where her daughter Bella lives so she could “save” her from Scientology. That narrative obviously didn’t pan out.

Shortly before that, Gossip Cop debunked a separate story about Kidman trying to save her son Connor from Scientology. And earlier this year, we corrected a phony report claiming Kidman was having a “breakdown” over her kids embracing the religion. This ongoing narrative simply isn’t accurate.
