Nicole Kidman never wrote a tell-all book, despite a 2017 report that wrongly claimed the actress was going to release an "$8 million" memoir. Gossip Cop is looking back at this report from a year ago on February 1. It wasn't true then and it's still false.

This time last year, Star ridiculously announced on its cover, "Nicole's $8 Million Tell All!" In its article, the gossip magazine teased dish on Kidman's "shocking split from Tom Cruise, her rough patch with Keith and everything in between," adding that it would "be one heck of a read." A so-called "source" was further quoted as saying, "There's never been a better time for the superstar to finally consider coming clean."

The outlet's questionable "insider" went on to assert, "Nicole is famous for fiercely guarding her privacy. But I can guarantee you that if she was willing to write a real 'tell-all' biography — that includes opening up about her divorce from Tom Cruise — she'd be able to get $8 million from a publisher." To fill its empty of facts story, the tabloid then resorted to listing topics that could be included in Kidman's tell-all book, such as "The Real Reason Tom Divorce Nicole," "Nicole's Many Lovers — And Secret Fiance," "Why She Almost Left Keith At The Altar," "Her Life As A Mom," and "Those Plastic Surgery Rumors."

Of course, despite maintaining "there's never been a better time" for Kidman to "come clean," a full 12 months have passed and there's no book. Simply, the report was entirely fabricated, which isn't surprising considering how Gossip Cop has repeatedly busted Star for spreading fake news about Kidman. When we first fact-checked the tabloid's article, Gossip Cop was exclusively told by Kidman's rep that the story was "untrue."

Contrary to the magazine's manufactured tale, Kidman never planned to release a tell-all book. Mind you, Star splashed the claim on its cover, meaning the publication felt its story was airtight and newsworthy. But it was neither. Equally galling is that publication never issued a correction in the past 12 months about how it was mistaken and its sources were wrong.

Instead, the tabloid tried to trick consumers into spending $5.99 on an issue that it knew had speculative reporting at best. Gossip Cop hopes the outlet is more truthful this year, but we have a feeling that there will be many more false rumors about the actress in 2018. As always, though, we'll continue to separate fact from fiction and hold various magazines and sites accountable for their inaccurate tales.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
