One of this week's tabloids claims Nicole Kidman is moving to London to save her daughter Bella Cruise from Scientology. The story is completely fabricated. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
A headline in the latest issue of the National Enquirer reads, "Nicole Battling Scientology For Daughter's Soul!" Kidman's 25-year-old adopted daughter with Tom Cruise is a member of the church, and according to the magazine, the actress is desperate to "save her daughter from what she believes is a full-on cult." An alleged insider tells the outlet that Kidman is shopping for homes in London nearby where Bella lives with her husband, "so she can reconnect with her daughter."
The magazine's story is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Kidman's rep, who tells us on the record that it's untrue. The tabloid's article is also poorly timed. Earlier this week, Kidman spoke about Bella and her adopted son Connor, who's also a Scientologist, and noted that she supports their choices in life.
The actress told Who magazine, "They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them." Kidman continued, "No matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I'm open here." It's clear the actress isn't interfering in the lives of either of her adopted kids or attempting to change how they choose to live.
It's worth noting, Gossip Cop has debunked similar premises surrounding the actress, her adopted kids and their religion. In September, we called out the Enquirer's sister outlet, Star, for falsely claiming that Kidman was trying to save her son Connor from Scientology. This latest phony article is now targeting the actress's relationship with her daughter, but it's no more accurate.
It should also be mentioned, when the Enquirer isn't making up stories about the actress and her kids, it publishes lies about her marriage. Gossip Cop busted the magazine in April for alleging that Kidman and her husband Keith Urban were headed for a split because "time apart" was taking a toll on their relationship. In reality, the happy spouses are still going strong and spend plenty of time together. It's clear the unreliable tabloid has no insight into the actress's relationships with her loved ones.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
