Nicole Kidman's "Big Little Lies" co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern have not "dumped" her as a friend, despite a ridiculous tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the claim. There's plenty of evidence showing the three actresses are all very close.
Last month, Witherspoon and Dern had dinner together in Los Angeles while Kidman was busy at San Diego's Comic Con promoting Aquaman. Woman's Day has now come up with the absurd premise that Kidman was "crushed" over her co-stars meeting up without her. "It's a slap in the face for Nicole to be left out in that way," an alleged insider tells the magazine. "They could have planned dinner for another night when she would be able to join them, but instead they did it when she was out of town."
The outlet's supposed source further contends that Kidman often feels "left out in the cold" because Witherspoon and Dern have known each other longer. Another issue, according to the suspicious tipster, is that Witherspoon is jealous of all the attention Kidman has gotten from the HBO show, and the tension only escalated while filming the second season.
None of this is remotely accurate. The entire cast of "Big Little Lies" do a ton of socializing when they're not on set, so the idea that Kidman would be upset about two of her co-stars getting dinner while she's working is absurd. In June, Kidman and Witherspoon went bowling with co-stars Meryl Streep, Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz. Dern didn't attend that particular cast outing, and yet Woman's Day never claimed she was "dumped" from the group.
Additionally, Witherspoon posted an Instagram tribute to Kidman in honor of her birthday in June, writing, "Happy Birthday to this remarkable woman who I'm lucky enough to work with and call my friend. Everyday with you is an inspiration! Keep shining bright, Nic!!" Dern also posted on Instagram to celebrate Kidman's birthday, as well as Streep's. The actress wrote, "Sharing this work week with two birthday girls. Goddesses. Masters of their art. And all around amazing women." Meanwhile, Kidman took to Instagram in June to tell her followers about Dern's new HBO movie The Tale.
Conclusion: It's clear the entire cast of "Big Little Lies" is very close. Both Witherspoon and Dern wished Kidman a happy birthday on social media in June, and gave her high praise in their posts. Meanwhile, Kidman and Witherspoon previously went bowling without Dern, so it's clear there's no odd woman out among the co-stars. They get together when their busy schedules allow it. Also, Kidman went out of her way to promote Dern's new HBO movie. The three actresses' collective Instagram posts disprove every aspect of the tabloid's report.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
