Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon did not get into a fight backstage at Keith Urban’s concert last month, despite a bogus tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the made-up story. There was no conflict between the actresses at the show.

The “Big Little Lies” co-stars surprised fans onstage at Urban’s concert in Nashville on August 24 when they came out to greet the crowd, but according to Life & Style, the scene wasn’t quite as friendly behind the curtains. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Nicole and Reese got into an argument. A negative text about Nicole from another actress on ‘Big Little Lies’ popped up on Reese’s phone, and Nicole saw it.” Tellingly, the outlet doesn’t mention what the text said or which actress from the HBO show sent it.

The magazine supposed source continues, “Nicole felt like she was back in school with the mean girls. She accused Reese of being two-faced.” Witherspoon then supposedly got defensive, according to the “insider,” who adds, “She told Nicole she shouldn’t have been reading her messages. Reese was also upset that Nicole would jump to the conclusion that what this person said in the text is how Reese also feels.”

The magazine’s phony story is based on flimsy information from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Witherspoon’s own rep says on the record that the incident never happened. Also, the day after the concert, Witherspoon posted Instagram photos of her and Kidman hanging out backstage. If the co-stars had truly gotten into a big fight at the event, it’s unlikely the actress would be sharing pictures of the two enjoying themselves at it.

Additionally, the “Big Little Lies” co-stars are known for being one of the closest casts on TV, so the idea that one of the other actresses wrote a nasty text about Kidman doesn’t seem logical. Not only does the cast frequently socialize during their downtime, but Kidman praised her co-stars on Instagram after the second season wrapped filming last month. The actress even described co-stars Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz and Meryl Streep as her “sisters.” It’s highly unlikely that any of the actresses are sending around mean texts behind Kidman’s back.

Meanwhile, this narrative about Witherspoon and Kidman being at odds consistently crops up, but never pans out. Less than a month ago, Gossip Cop busted In Touch for falsely claiming that Witherspoon was “furious” with Kidman for scoring the movie and TV rights to the upcoming book by the author of “Big Little Lies.” That premise was disproven when the actresses attended Urban’s concert together. Now, it seems the tabloid is trying to backpedal by insisting there was tension at the show. That simply wasn’t the case.
