Is Keith Urban furious over Russell Crowe gushing about Nicole Kidman in interviews? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop has learned the truth.
According to Woman's Day, the country singer doesn't appreciate Crowe's so-called "infatuation" with his wife. The co-stars play a married couple in the upcoming film Boy Erased, and the actor joked in a recent interview, "I waited a long time to be married to Nicole." Comments like these, according to the publication, aren't sitting well with Urban.
An alleged insider tells the magazine that the country star is "feeling uneasy about seeing another man drooling over his wife." The supposed source adds, "Keith's a mellow, patient guy and he's happy for Nic and Russell to be friends, but some of the comments Russell's been making have been way over the top."
The questionable tipster continues, "In Keith's mind there's a line that can be crossed and he'd appreciate it if Russell toned things down a notch or two." The suspicious source goes on to say that Urban's "got a protective streak and wants him to cool it with the public declarations of love."
The magazine's attempt to create some sort of love triangle is baseless. In reality, Kidman and Crowe have been friends for more than 30 years. The Aussie stars first met in the '80s while traveling in the same social circles, and they've remained close pals since. In fact, Crowe has since become good friends with the actress's husband. Back in 2011, Urban surprised fans in Vancouver by bringing Crowe on stage to perform a few songs with him.
Regardless, the tabloid's article is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "insider," but Gossip Cop checked in with Urban's rep, who tells us on the record that it's total nonsense. The country star isn't upset about Crowe complimenting his wife in interviews. Also, the magazine is trying to make it seem like one of Kidman's random co-stars is getting under her husband's skin. Crowe has a long history with the actress, and Urban knows him well.
Additionally, Woman's Day has already proven to have very little insight into the country star's relationship. Back in April, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for publishing a cover story claiming that Kidman and Urban's marriage was "over." The spouses are still very happily married. This latest article involving Crowe is more lies from the unreliable outlet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
