Russell Crowe did not pursue Nicole Kidman last year amid her so-called "marriage problems" with Keith Urban. Gossip Cop debunked this phony story when it first emerged 12 months ago. Time has proven it false.
On August 23, 2017, the National Enquirer falsely claimed that Kidman and Urban were headed for a split after he supposedly got "caught groping a groupie" backstage at one of his concerts. In reality, the country star was photographed giving a friendly hug to CMT and "Extra" reporter Alecia Davis, who's interviewed him several times over the years. She's not a groupie and there was no "groping."
Still, the untrustworthy tabloid alleged that Kidman was ready to call off her marriage over the situation. According to the magazine, Crowe had somehow heard about the actress's "marriage problems" and was going to use the opportunity to pursue her on the set of their movie Boy Erased, which began shooting the following month.
Here's what also happened the following month. Kidman thanked her husband on stage at the Emmys while accepting an award for her HBO show "Big Little Lies." The happy spouses also showed a ton of PDA on the red carpet. It's clear the actress and musician weren't having marital trouble last August, and they're certainly not having any now. Earlier this week, in fact, Urban brought Kidman on stage during his concert in Chicago.
As for Crowe, a rep for the star assured Gossip Cop last year that he had no intention of hitting on his married co-star while shooting their movie. The Australian stars have been close pals for years, but their relationship has never been romantic, and it obviously didn't turn that way on the set of Boy Erased.
Unfortunately, the Enquirer has continued to make up bogus stories about the actress's marriage. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for falsely claiming that time apart was taking a toll on Kidman and Urban's relationship. As noted above, the actress accompanied her husband on tour this week, so the spouses clearly make time for each other despite their busy schedules.
As Gossip Cop has stated in the past, the passage of time rarely works in a tabloid's favor. That's the case with the Enquirer's 2017 article attempting to create a love triangle between Kidman, Urban and Crowe. The actress and country star are still happily married, and her relationship with Crowe on set was friendly and professional.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
