Nicole Kidman is not quitting Hollywood to save her marriage to Keith Urban, as a phony report in a tabloid is claiming. The story is just not true. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can bust it.
The Globe has an item this week alleging Kidman and Urban had a fight over the actress's busy career and as a result, she has decided to quit acting and producing to "save her crumbling marriage." The article quotes an "insider" as saying, "She had been neglecting Keith and the kids and knew it was either put her career aside and be with her family or lose them forever." The outlet further contends that the couple had a "huge fight" before Monaco's Global Ocean Gala, where, the suspicious insider claims, "everyone noticed the chilly atmosphere between them. Keith was glaring."
The tabloid ends its story by claiming Kidman is taking the rest of the year off to spend more time at the family's home in Nashville. The whole article is complete nonsense. For starters, Kidman has already started doing press for her upcoming movie Bombshell, which co-stars Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie, and focuses on the women who brought down Fox News CEO Roger Ailes. The Big Little Lies star also has three TV shows and a Netflix musical listed on her IMDB page as upcoming projects. Additionally, Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Kidman, who tells us on the record that the report is "untrue."
The supposed "fight" at the Global Ocean Gala is also completely false. Earlier this week, Gossip Cop busted a similar narrative about Kidman and Urban having a "showdown" at the charity event. That false account was based on a photo taken at the event that supposedly showed a "frosty" relationship between the couple. That report also used the same faulty premise that Urban was unhappy with his wife's work schedule. The article was completely fabricated by the tabloid, which invented an entire story around one misleading photograph.
The Globe has been wrong about the couple's relationship before. In August of last year, the tabloid purported that Kidman was filing for divorce from Urban. The bogus rumor alleged The Goldfinch star walked out on her husband because of the country singer's supposed "wandering eye, his history of drug addiction and lies." The couple was never on the verge of a divorce, as the article claimed. Gossip Cop corrected the tabloid for its baseless reporting, just as we're doing so again, as the publication seems to have no actual insight into the couple's relationship.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
