Are Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban adopting a baby boy after several failed attempts at trying to conceive child through IVF? That's the story in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation, and we've learned the truth.
According to the National Enquirer, already the parents of two young girls, Kidman and Urban have been quietly working with an adoption agency to add a little boy to their family. An unnamed source tells the outlet, "After a careful search, they've found the perfect baby boy, with brown curls, blue eyes and a toothy grin. He's not even a year old yet. The paperwork is ready and they're hoping to speed things along."
The alleged insider further contends the spouses are "bursting with excitement and they've already told their daughters, who are just as thrilled to be getting a new brother." The seemingly phony tipster continues, "Nicole wants Keith to experience that special father-son bond," adding that Kidman and Urban knew adoption was the best route when she supposedly failed to get pregnant again.
The magazine hides behind an anonymous "insider" to sell its questionable premise, but Kidman's own spokesperson is going on the record to refute it. Despite what the outlet's unidentified source claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actress's behalf confirms she's not adopting a child with her husband, nor has she been attempting to conceive one.
It should be mentioned, Gossip Cop has debunked many variations of this narrative. Earlier this month, we called out Woman's Day for falsely claiming Kidman and Urban were adopting a baby boy. Shortly before that, the Globe wrongly reported that Kidman and Urban were adopting a baby from Syria. And just a few months prior to that, Gossip Cop busted New Idea for making up a story about Kidman and Urban exploring both surrogacy and adoption to have another child.
Additionally, earlier this year Kidman said in an interview with People how she's not having more kids. When asked if she plans to expand her family, the actress noted, "We go, 'Oh gosh, I wonder if we met when we were 25, then we could have had 10 of them!' But Keith says, 'Stop the wanting mind.'" The actress added, "It's far better to be completely in love and satiated with what you've been given."
It must also be mentioned, the Enquirer and its sister outlets clearly don't run their stories by each other. Star, which shares resources with the tabloid, wrongly reported last week that Kidman got pregnant with Urban's baby after "one round of IVF." Gossip Cop debunked that contradictory narrative as well.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
