Nicole Kidman does not ask waiters to only bring her half of the meals she orders, despite a ridiculous tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim. A rep for the actress tells us it's false.
"Skinny Nicole's 50% Diet" reads a headline in the latest issue of Star. The accompanying article says Kidman's secret to staying in shape is instructing restaurants to only serve her 50 percent of her food. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "No matter what she orders... It could be a cup of soup - she'll still ask to have it cut down."
The outlet's questionable source adds, "She thinks restaurant portions are way too big, so this helps her avoid overeating." The supposed tipster goes on to say that Kidman's friends "have asked why she doesn't just get the whole meal and leave half of it, but she insists that would be wasteful."
This premise is coming from an anonymous, untraceable and seemingly imaginary "insider," but the actress's own spokesperson tells Gossip Cop on the record there's no truth to it. Additionally, Kidman previously told the Los Angeles Times what she eats to stay healthy, specifically pointing out there's "no secret regimen" to her diet and she's "not that strict" when it comes to food.
Last year, Good Housekeeping put together a roundup of Kidman giving diet tips in various interviews. The actress touted the benefits of eggs, lean protein and seafood. She also made a point of saying she's "not someone that believes in denial." The closest she got to talking about percentages of food is by noting that she believes in "walking a path that's ultimately 80 percent healthy, 20 percent [unhealthy]... sometimes it falls to 70." At no point did Kidman suggest eating only half portions.
Oddly enough, this isn't the first time Gossip Cop has had to call out Star for making up a phony story about the actress's food habits. We previously busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Kidman's diet consists primarily of coffee. As noted above, the actress has shared in various interviews what she actually enjoys to eat. Also, the magazine's latest article about Kidman's so-called "50 percent diet" doesn't make a single mention of coffee.
At 51-years-old, Kidman is still in amazing shape, which is probably why the tabloids are making up stories about the actress having secret methods of keeping fit. The actress herself, however, has indicated there's no real trick to it. Kidman simply lives a healthy lifestyle, and one that doesn't include depriving herself of half her meals.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
