Nicole Kidman did not meet with the lawyer who represented Katie Holmes in her divorce from Tom Cruise, despite a false tabloid report claiming the actress is ready to leave husband Keith Urban. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. A rep for the actress tells us it's fabricated.
According to Woman's Day, the actress recently met with Jonathan Wolfe, the high-profile attorney who helped Holmes get full custody of her daughter Suri in 2012. A so-called "source" tells the magazine that Kidman didn't officially request divorce papers from Wolfe, but she consulted with him "to know where she stood" should she decide to end her marriage.
The outlet's questionable source says, "Nicole was extremely impressed with how Katie's divorce and custody battle was handled, and she really liked Jonathan. She feels confident that he could help her win, no matter how nasty it gets." The supposed insider says the couple's friends are "hoping they can work through" their issues, but a separation might be on the horizon.
The unreliable tabloid hides behind an anonymous insider, but Kidman's spokesperson tells Gossip Cop on the record that there's no truth to the story. We're told the couple's marriage is going strong. It's also worth noting, the publication never bothers to mentions what Kidman and Urban's alleged marital problems entail. It's simply stated that they've "been fighting constantly," but the seemingly imaginary source provides no further details.
Just last month, People published an article detailing Kidman and Urban's "secrets to a healthy, long-lasting relationship." The story was based on a handful of recent interviews in which the spouses of 12 years spoke about maintaining a strong bond. Just three weeks ago, for instance, Urban gushed about his wife and kids during a SXSW panel.
Unfortunately, Gossip Cop frequently has to bust false stories about the happy couple. We recently called out a tabloid for wrongly reporting that Kidman and Urban were getting a divorce following a failed "counseling retreat" to save their marriage. It's likely Woman's Day concocted this similarly untrue story because Kidman and Holmes share an ex-husband, but the two definitely don't share a divorce lawyer.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
