Nicole Kidman didn't make her husband Keith Urban move to New York from Nashville so she could pursue a dream of being on Broadway, despite a report from exactly one year ago today. Gossip Cop busted the claim as false 365 days ago, and it's no more true today.
On November 28, 2017, RadarOnline claimed it was Kidman's dream to perform on Broadway. To bolster its baseless premise, the outlet quoted an alleged "source" as saying Kidman was "keen to do Broadway" and felt relocating to Manhattan was a smart move for her professionally. The rest of the article was about how the actress and her husband were supposedly splashing out $39 million for a massive New York home, complete with 16 rooms and even outdoor space.
But Kidman never bought the 12,000-square-foot townhouse, as Gossip Cop rightly noted 12 months ago, and readers should not have bought the blog's story. It simply wasn't true, and it remains inaccurate to the day. Not surprisingly, in its article, the website didn't mention whether Kidman wanted to do a comedy, drama or even a musical on Broadway.
Glaringly, the poorly reported story alleged Kidman wanted to "pursue her dream of acting on Broadway," but the actress has already performed there. In 1998, Kidman starred on Broadway in the play The Blue Room. Regardless, in the intervening year since RadarOnline's misfire, Kidman has not appeared again on Broadway or expressed an interest in returning to the Great White Way.
Instead, the actress has focused on her film and TV career, shooting a second season of HBO's "Big Little Lies" in addition to a number of movies, including Boy Erased, Aquaman and The Goldfinch. Kidman is currently filming a biopic about Fox News boss Roger Ailes and is also attached to star in the HBO miniseries "The Undoing." The actress hasn't taken the Broadway stage and has no plans to do so.
It's worth noting, the blog is hardly reliable when it comes to accurately reporting about the actress. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for falsely claiming that Kidman planned to get pregnant. That obviously didn't happen, and the actress has since stated that she's done having kids. Also last year, we called out the site for wrongly reporting that Kidman and Urban were permanently moving to Australia. The spouses still have homes all over the world, including properties in Nashville, Los Angeles and New York City, and aren't residing in Australia full-time. The blog clearly has little insight into the actress's personal life, living situation and career plans.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
