Are Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra moving to India following their wedding? That's the claim in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we've learned the truth.
Earlier this month, the couple got married in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Jodhpur, India. The newlyweds also had a second reception in Mumbai last week. According to the National Enquirer, India isn't just the location of their wedding parties, but it will also become their new home.
An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Nick has fallen in love with his bride's native country and its culture. He and Priyanka are looking at homes in India and Nick is already getting offers to star in Bollywood movies." The supposed source adds, "America might be losing Nick, but we still have a few other Jonas brothers!"
The magazine's story is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly phony "insider," but Gossip Cop reached out to Chopra's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's untrue. The actress's rep, who's qualified to speak on her behalf, tells us she and her husband aren't planning to relocate to India.
Of course, the actress has family in India, so it's likely that she and Jonas will make frequent visits. However, the outlet's premise isn't particularly logical. Chopra has been living in both New York and Los Angeles for the past several years as she focuses on her acting career. The actress got her start in Bollywood movies, but her upcoming film slate consists of Hollywood productions. There's nothing to indicate that Chopra intends to leave Hollywood and settle down in India. Meanwhile, Architectural Digest recently reported that Jonas and Chopra purchased a house in Beverly Hills.
It's worth noting, there's a recurring theme in the tabloids about a celebrity couple leaving show business behind to settle down outside of the Hollywood scene. In October, Gossip Cop busted the Enquirer's sister publication, OK!, for wrongly reporting that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were leaving Los Angeles and moving to the singer's home state of Tennessee. That never happened.
Earlier this year, the Enquirer falsely claimed that Ben Affleck was quitting Hollywood and moving to a farm in upstate New York. In reality, the actor still lives in Los Angeles and has a busy movie career. Shortly before that, the magazine's other sister outlet, RadarOnline, made up a story about Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani "quitting Hollywood" and moving to the Midwest. A similar premise is now being applied to Jonas and Chopra, but it's equally inaccurate.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
