Are Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra really building a $20 million mansion in Los Angeles? One of this week's tabloids claims the newlyweds are scouting out a site on which to build their dream home. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.
A so-called "source" tells Star that Jonas "has resisted buying a big property in L.A. all these years because he's always wanted to develop one himself," and he's ready to do so now that he's newly married. "They already have ideas on what they want to build, and are willing to spend upwards of $20 million," adds the questionable insider. "It's going to be fantastic!"
The magazine's story, which lacks any real details about the couple's supposed construction plans, simply isn't accurate. Gossip Cop reached out to Chopra's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the article is "untrue." Despite what the outlet's anonymous and untraceable tipster claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actress's behalf confirms she's not building a $20 million mansion. In fact, Architectural Digest reported last year that Jonas and Chopra purchased a $6.5 million home in Beverly Hills.
Last month, Gossip Cop busted Star for wrongly reporting that Chopra was pregnant with Jonas's baby. This latest article makes no mention of the two having a child on the way. That's because the couple isn't expecting a baby at this time, as we said when the magazine made the bogus claim a few weeks ago.
It's also worth noting, the gossip media has made up several stories surrounding the singer and the actress's living situation. Back in December, Gossip Cop called out Star's sister publication, the National Enquirer, for falsely claiming Jonas and Chopra were moving to India. The outlet contended that the couple was looking for homes in the actress's native country and Jonas was being offered Bollywood movies. The entire premise was fabricated.
Shortly after that, Star's other sister outlet, OK!, made up a story about Jonas and Chopra fighting over where to live. The tabloid maintained that the actress wanted to live in New York City, while her husband preferred L.A., and it was resulting in a battle between the two. That storyline was also baseless.
In all of those articles mentioned above, the tabloids hid behind unidentified "sources" to back up their stories. A rep for Chopra, however, spoke out on her behalf and dismissed them all as fiction. The same goes for this latest one.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
